Mokomokai drop their brilliant third album, plus new music from King Gizzard et al, Little Simz and McKinley Dixon - plus a Phoebe Bridgers anniversary
Hmm - I should’ve googled that before I wrote it haha! Apparently he didn’t pay back $1.7 mill she lent him - and one of my takeaways is that I’m glad she is making good money from music!
Music has a jazz problem. Except jazz, it's okay there. The WITCH I heard was an EP but absolutely great, Nadi the standout - very much what Hendrix would want to be playing if he was still around.
Mokomokai are the one. Everything about the music is of this place.
“I don’t know who hurt Little Simz enough for her to write the verses to opener “Thief””… apparently Sault’s Inflo…

I’d guess the jazz influence in modern folk, alt and hiphop has a 7:1 ratio of used-to-used well.
I’m gonna go back to that WITCH album today. It might be another ‘I wasn’t fair on you’ album haha
