And not one John Hanlon song? What f'ing insult this was to someone who:
'was the first and most successful of NZ’s singer-songwriters, a chart perennial from 1973 to 1976 '
'From 1973 to 1976, Hanlon became a household name, with more hits and awards than any other NZ singer-songwriter, winning Songwriter Of The Year three times in a row at the RATA music awards, and APRA Silver Scroll awards for ‘Lovely Lady’ and the terrific progressive-folk of ‘Wind Songs’. During those years, Hanlon’s albums were chart perennials, and in 1975 with ‘Lovely Lady’ he finally cranked up his first and only No.1 smash hit.'
I’m only adding songs from 2001 and later but there are definitely mistakes like this in the original list. Among the names I think are missing: Ray Columbus, The Clean, our fairly successful country music scene, Toy Love, Jan Hellriegel, more Supergroove, Garageland and Weta. Maybe there is a case to be made for revising the original list too.
If the Eye TV song had been Worse for Wear they would have fully deserved a place on the list
I give my rationale here
